• Hi! I found out about the problem while setting up an RSS campaign on Mailchimp.

I do use the more tag, but even so, the exerpt is much shorter and includes far less text. Is there any way to see where the problem lies from a look at my website?

    Thanks for any help!

  • There is a setting for controlling RSS feed behavior in your Dashboard, under Settings > Reading.

Check to see if the setting “For each article in a feed, show” is set to “Full text.”

If not, change it to “Full text” and click the “Save changes” button at the bottom of the page to update the settings.

Thank you very much, I’m sure that will work!
I also read about some plugins that look past the more tag and provide a full-size feed.
Do you happen to know any of the names for these plugins?

Hi Lesia, I don’t believe a plugin is required to achieve this.
The full text feed setting is part of WordPress core.

Hi, Just thought I’d share my discovery in case someone passes through this way again with a similar issue. It may help.

My issue was using the page builder RSS widget. I put my link in this widget and then wasted several days trying to get it to display full text from my own website which was set to feed full text. I failed.

I couldn’t test with firefox because when you subscribe it just links to your webpages, IOW from the bookmarks toolbar you click on the feed link and it simply takes you to the actuall website page, it’s just a bookmark not an RSS feed.

I thought I’d try it in IE and bingo it all was working well. With IE you subscribe and hey presto you receive the full text feed. So in summary if your RSS is not doing what you want it to do, try testing it from a different browser than you login to wordpress with, because the chances are that it is actually working correctly you just can’t see it due to compatability nuances here and there.
