Member Posting Without SiteAdmin

  • Hi. I am fairly new to WordPress, and trying it out to see if its easier than my current system (Drupal, which I like alot, but its more than I need).

    I have a family site, that allows all members to post blog entries. In drupal, they just clicked on create->blog, and it brought them to blog post area.

    Is there a similar way to do things in WordPress? A way for users to post blogs without going to the SiteAdmin area?

    Maybe I am not explaining this correctly….

    Can I put a link on my front page/menu area, so when the logged in user click on it, they are brought to “new post” submission page?

    I dont want it to seem as if they are logging into the backend to post stuff, which is how it currently looks.

    Can’t you go to the new post page for your blog, note the url and make a link to that? For example, it would probably something like

    https://yoursite/wp-admin/post.php

    Logged in users with the proper access levels should go straight to the page for creating new posts.

    You know, you the “Meta” section in your sidebar (in the default theme) allows users to log in. As administrator, you can set up the permissions for them to use – if you set the person as a “contributor”, the only thing they have access to when they log in is the dashboard and writing posts. Nothing else is made available to them.

    I see what your saying, but I dont want the interface for my end users to change. If they go to the SiteAdmin area, the UI looks completely different, and is too complex for them. I want a “post” page that is themed exactly like the rest of the site, and just displays for them when they click on it. They dont need to manage their content after posting, and dont need a dashboard.

    Basically, I am looking for something similar to Drupal’s blog post.

    I want exactly the same! no change of UI for people who want to create a new topic/post!
