• Since I had troubles installing (could not find the program needed to open), I followed these directions: “Open up wp-config-sample.php with a text editor like WordPad or similar and fill in your database connection details.”

Now that I have everything in Wordpad, what the heck am I supposed to do with it?

Step 2 is: “Save the file as wp-config.php and upload it.” Do I just take what is in Wordpad without making changes and rename the Wordpad file?

I’m trying everything that link is saying but I’m just messing it up.

I guess no one else has any answers?

WordPress is a web application that runs on a web server.

It is not an application that runs on your computer like Word or Photoshop.

To run it on your PC you need to set up a local webserver on your computer.

For more information, have a look at the documentation, starting with: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/New_To_WordPress_-_Where_to_Start

I have a site hosted by Yahoo. I want to use WordPress to edit it, as I’m currently using yahoo sitebuilder.

Well, I guess WordPress is not for me, as I apparently need more support than what’s available here.

    Thanks!

It sounds like WordPress is not what you think it is.

WordPress is not a desktop application for editing an existing site, but a content publishing application that is installed on a server. You may be able to replace your site with a WordPress installation, or possibly run a WordPress instance alongside the existing site (subject to the server requirements being met), however WordPress cannot be used to edit a site built with Yahoo sitebuilder.

I want to start over. I would like to allow others to add content from wherever they live. I do not wish to use sitebuilder anymore, and am willing to copy/paste everything I have and would even move it off of yahoo hosting.

I’ve used WordPress to add content to someone else’s site as an employee of theirs, and wish to do the same with mine. I enjoyed how easy it was to use. I came here to find out how, and was pointed to different pages that all still spoke German. It seems as though it is only for more advanced users, so I’m stuck looking for something else.

There is an outline of how to setup WordPress on Yahoo hosting at: https://help.yahoo.com/mkb/article.php?page=content&y=PROD_YSB_WH&locale=en_US&id=SLN21234

    Thanks.

I went with DreamHost who will take care of everything, including WordPress.
