Yoast XML sitemap not deleting old pages

Hello,

I’ve been scratching my head for sometime and looked around for similar problems as to mine but can’t seem to find any solutions. I’m currently using Yoast for SEO and my issue here is that the old pages are not being removed on the XML sitemap being generated from Yoast. It seems to update the sitemap with new URL pages but doesn’t seem to delete old one’s that no longer exist and returns a 404 when clicked on.

Has anyone had this problem and any idea how I can remove the old URL pages from the sitemap.

I’ve tried using another XML sitemap plugin such as Google Sitemap, but it doesn’t seem to have any effect.
