Widget area — new widget areas displaying as list items

Hello all,

I’m having an issue where a new widget area that I created is displaying its widgets as lists instead of as divs. See code in image below:

The code for said widgets is here in the functions.php, and here in the page template php. I bet my php is ugly as sin — I know just enough not to break things, mostly — so please be gentle ?? And the formatting doesn’t matter right now, except I would really rather not have the widgets pop up as list items.
