Recurring Events as ONE Event

Hi there. I am building a website for an art school that offers after school classes where people can sign up for a season of classes, not just one instance of a recurring event. We want the classes to show up on the calendar each week, but when people book, they will book for the entire season (all 8 or 12 events), not just the one class.
From what I’ve gathered, this feature isn’t available right now, but may be in development. I’m curious if there’s a best practice work-around anyone could recommend?
My idea was to create a single event, open to booking, scheduled for the last date of the semester (to enable late enrollment), and using that for booking purposes. Then I would create a recurring event in the same category with booking closed, and using some template tags to redirect people from the individual recurring events to the single open class for booking. Would that be the best solution? Or are they some hacks I can implement? Any feedback is appreciated.
