How to ask for password before updating record

Hi there.
I know right at the bottom of the help section there is a reference to this but I can’t figure it out.
I added a password field to my db. Added a value.
When I add shortcode for updating record, it does not ask for password and obviously the update fails.
Can someone help me with an example?
