I am using multiple custom post types in my WordPress 4.0 system, with Headway 3.7.8 as the theme framework.

The front page shows a reverse chronological order of posts and custom posts that have been added.

When I change the order of the posts/custom posts using Post Types Order, the front page archive entries get mixed up. E.g. An old custom post I added ages ago springs up on the front page, unexpectedly.

    What could be happening?

    Thanks.

Did you tried to switch off the Autosort plugin setting? Then use ‘orderby’ => ‘menu_order’ within queries where sort need to apply.

I’ll check it out and let you know.

I am guessing that multiple post types are trying to get to the top spot on the front page whenever I re-order them.

    What do you think?
