    Hi Friends,

I had my wordpress blog running well until one day my hosting provider sent me a mail saying the server crashed and I will have to get the data recovered. I paid them for that and they recovered a few files. I asked them to set all the files back right, but there was some problem with the database. Finally they somehow created a database but it is not visible in the cpanel. And it doesnt let me create a new database on the same name. It says Already exists.

And the problem is now when ever I try to open a post I get the following error :

    Not Found

The requested URL /210/20-mistakes-you-wouldnt-want-to-do-in-your-20s was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I tried creating a new database and new user and moving all the data there. But still the same issue.

Please help!!! This is important for my interviews.

    My blog : aashishj.com

    Thanks In Advance

Try re-saving your permalink structure at Settings/Permalinks in your admin panel. If WordPress cannot automatically edit the .htaccess file, it will provide manual instructions after saving.

@macmanx Thank you so much. Now the posts open well. You’re awesome ??

But the DB still doesn’t appear in the cpanel, any suggestions?

    Thanks

You’ll need to get in touch with your hosting provider about that. My guess is they created the database for you, but forgot to assign it to your account.

They are the most ignorant people I’ve ever dealt with ?? They have tried for almost a month and finally gave up.

Can we do something from our side? Like creating a new database or something?

    Thanks

Well, you can certainly create a new database (at least, you should be able to), but it’s going to be hard to export/import the two databases without access to the other.

You could certainly export/import just the content via the Tools section of your Dashboard. By that I mean export the content, make a new database, edit wp-config.php to point to the new database, then import the content. However:

    1. The import could fail due to the size.

    2. You’ll have to re-do all of your settings and widgets, this is strictly content-only.

    3. You may need to run a plugin to re-build your media library.

If I were in your shoes, I would lean heavily on them to get back access to that database. Then, once you have access, back everything up https://codex.www.ads-software.com/WordPress_Backups and move to another hosting provider.

Ok, I’ll try to get back to them on this.

Thank you very much for solving this issue. ??
