• A little assistance on importing wp-content
Cutting a frustrating experience with my hosting provider short. They have ‘accidentally’ as the email apology said ‘deleted my hosting package.’

Thankfully I made content back ups of the wordpress sites I had on my hosting. Unfortunately no mysql databases were saved. (A lesson for the future).

Having told this hosting company where to go. And taken out new hosting elsewhere.

Looking to find is it possible to import the existing wordpress content into a new installation?

    Any advice would be useful.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

Who was your hosting provider? Do they have a backup of your database? Even from a week ago, a month ago, a year ago? Since the issue was their fault, they might be able to recover your database for you if they have it.

Do you by any chance have an export file (xml) from Tools > Export?

The wp-content folder includes your themes, plugins, images, videos, etc. but not the text of your posts and pages. All your settings are also in your database.

How big is your site? You can also manually (and slowly) recreate the text of your posts and pages from Google’s cache.

    Hope that helps.
