Jetpack Stats Showing Too Many Pageview

  • The Jetpack Stats showing too many PV of my site started from yesterday.

    Jetpack Stats showed that I got 23,117 UV yesterday, usually, there will only around 30K – 40K PV from my experience. But the stats showed there was 700K PV. It shows today (till the moment I make this post) UV is 6K but the PV is over 40K.

    I checked it with Google analytics, it showed the UV of yesterday is 20K something and the PV is around 40K. It shows today (till the moment I make this post) UV is 5K and the PV is just around 9K.

    Moreover, I don’t think my hosting would not go down if there are 700K PV a day. (It always down when it meet 100K PV per day before)

    So I think that the UV checking is ok, but there must be something wrong with the PV.

    What can I do to fix the problem?

    I wonder if the problem could be caused by a conflict with your caching plugin. Could you try to deactivate W3 Total Cache for a day, and see if it changes anything?

    I tried to deactivate W3 Total Cache, and deactivate Cloudflare too.

    However, it seems that the problem is still here.

    I tried to go to Jetpack Debugging Center, here are 2 error messages:

    1.

    Your site isn’t securely reaching the Jetpack servers.
    HTTPS:
    Problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?)

    2.

    It looks like your site can not communicate properly with Jetpack.

    Are those messages related to the stats error? What can I do now?

    P.S
    I am using Bluehost WP hosting.

    I didn't make any change on both W3 Total Cache and Cloudflare, so I don't know why the stats suddenly go wrong.

    Are those messages related to the stats error?

    No, they’re unrelated, but it could cause issues with other Jetpack modules.

    What can I do now?

    I’ll ask our data team to have a closer look at your stats to see where the extra traffic comes from, and why.

    The problem is still here. What I can do is just go to GA instead of wp stats…

    We’re still looking into it, and trying to understand what user creates the extra views, and how to filter these kinds of views. I’ll post again here as soon as I have some news.
