    Hi,

adobe introduced some major changes to the runtime and the whole file structure. This makes total sense, but means that Edge Suite won’t work with the latest version out of the box. I need to check how problematic the changes are, but this will most likely take some time as everything happens in my free time.

Would you be able to sent me an animation with some of the latest features, inclduing some images etc. to [email protected]? If so, could you please enable the CDN option in the export dialog. Is the “publish preload DOM as a separate file” option also available on OAM export? That would also help a great deal, maybe that files hasn’t changed that much.

In general the whole plugin needs a complete rewrite, but the first step would be to get the latest version working somehow.

    Timm,

I just sent you an email with an attachment. Let me know if you get it.

    Hi,

    same problem here.

If you need some samples, let me know!

It’s kinda sad that Adobe advertises this plugin in their training materials (that’s where I heard of it), but they don’t have you on staff to upgrade the plugin (with compensation).

@carmdq sorry, but your animation already has custom JS and contains jQuery. Could someone please sent me a simple animation with an animated image and a preloader, with separate preloader file and CDN enabled. And please no jquery, I need to cover the basics first. Shouldn’t be to difficult to create. Thx

No problem. How basic are we talking about? Will a simple image moving throught the stage do it?

@carmdq, yes, that will do, thanks.

    Timm,

Same Problem. Would you like me to send you through anything?
I have created a basic banner for you with a single image moving across the stage.
Publish with “Host runtime files on Adobe CDN” active.
    It still creates jquery.
    I will send through.
    Thanks for your time.

Hey Peter, thanks for the animation. The jquery might be because you upgraded it and it stays for compatibility. Don’t worry about the jquery, might work like that, but can you please enable the preloader option when publishing the OAM and reupload it. That would be helpful.

    Timm,

Stuggling with your request a little bit…

Preloader option in File>Publish Settings>Web is greyed out.

I’ve done a quick bit of research (https://helpx.adobe.com/edge-animate/using/whats-new.html) which says:

“The earlier versions of Edge Animate runtime used to depend on jQuery internally. jQuery was always added as a dependency in your composition irrespective of whether you are actually using any of the jQuery APIs or not. This dependency is removed in the latest Edge Animate Runtime, which means a smaller payload size and reduced number of downloads required for running your compositions.

The requirement for a separate preloader js too is removed in this release. Edge Animate now generates a single js file for your composition, which contains the entire DOM and your complete code in the Edge Animate composition”.

“To reduce the number of downloads, the preloader DOM is directly included in your composition’s HTML. However, if you want the preloader DOM to be a separate js file, enable the option – Publish Preload DOM As A Separate File in Publish Settings”.

Not sure why my preloader is greyed out?

    Pete

same issue – i have a project i need to get out the door and now i cant upload it since updating to the most recent version of edge…kind of frustrating. do you have an ETA on this plugin update/rewrite so that i have a realistic timeframe for my client?

@peter Is the option also greyed out for the “Animate Deployment package”? I only need the OAM file, nothing else.

The upgrade hopefully might not be that complicated, then I should be able to publish a dev version at the beginning of next week. Otherwise I got to see…

would you like a copy of my oam file?

Timm, thanks for the effort. It’s a great plugin. Really frustrating when “upgrades” break stuff. I too have a job that needs to get out the door. I’d love to donate to help you fix it, but I don’t see a donation pathway on your plugin page. Hopefully it can be fixed easily, as you say. I’ll be lost without it!

    Steve

I’d be willing to donate to the cause as well. Looked for a donation button earlier today. But since Adobe is promoting your plugin in their training materials, I think they ought to be making the biggest contribution. Especially since they’re soaking the rest of us for $600 a year for access to the entire suite.
