• Resolved Ate Up With Motor

    Hi,

I just did the latest version update and it broke the site — the update never finished (it timed out) and now both front and back end are inaccessible, just returning the “down for maintenance” message. Renaming the plugin directory temporarily in an attempt to deactivate it made no difference.

Any suggestions? The only thing I can see to do is contact the host and have them restore the site to a backup from earlier in the week (which I can’t from here), which means the site will be down till they get around to it.

Okay, I manually deleted the .maintenance file from the root and then retried the update, which seems to have worked. I’ll leave this here in case anyone else had the same issue.

Had this myself once or twice when updating plugins, afraid there’s no solution (and it’s not WP DoNotTrack-specific). Very bad for the heart, glad you found out about .maintenance ??
