• Hi

I get the error Not Found

The requested URL /wp-admin was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I really do not know where to go on this. I am not a technical guy. Any pointer would be appreciated. I am trying to run off the HostGator server, this error come up on my first login attempt. Have looked through a stack of comments getting into worse trouble than I started with… and got further with the .com site.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

How exactly did you install WordPress? In the root of your site? In a sub-directory?

    Hello AncalO

I use a process called quickinstall, a facility provided by HostGator. I think this saves the system on my GatorHost site? Sorry I don’t really understand the installation process, it seems Worpress can be run locally or remotely. I am really stuck on this, is there a recommended procedure I can follow,

    Thank you

Here is a nice guide so you can start again and install WordPress step-by-step without errors.

    A few questions:

    – you bought your hosting at HG but did you buy your domain name from HG as well? If you bought it somewhere else (GoDaddy, for example) then there are additional steps you need to take

    – if you bought your domain from HG at the same time as the hosting, and you did the WP QuickInstall relatively soon thereafter, then it is a matter of waiting until the domain becomes fully available on the web; this can take up to 24 hours and is normal.

    – after you did the QuickInstall, did you receive the email with the login info and you clicked on the enclosed link and got the noted error? If so, then it means the install went fine and it is one of the first two items noted here ??
