• How can I get back to the previous version of WordPress? The new version won’t let me schedule a post, add hyperlinks to a post, or add tags to a post. I can enter text, bold and highlight it, and put it in a category.

I went to updates and couldn’t find a way to reverse the update.

The theme I’m using is twenty twelve. I’m only using four plugins: Akismet, All in One SEO, Statcounter, and Shareaholic.

This is me panicking, please, any advice you can offer would be helpful. I’m just about to enter a six week period of heavy blogging to promote a book.

    Regards,
    Bonnie

  • Its a bad idea to go backwards. Things can go very wrong. Before you do this:
    – ensure your theme and plugins are up-to-date
    – temporarily deactivate all plugins, if the problem goes away, reactivate the plugins one by one to try to identify the one that’s causing the conflict.
    – temporarily try the TwentyFourteen default theme to be able to rule out a theme issue

If you must revert to an older version, take a backup of your files and database before starting.

    The previous releases are here:

You will need to download the file for the release you want, unzip it on your hard drive and upload it using FTP or your host’s file manager software. Be careful not to overwrite wp-config.php or the wp-content directory.
