    I had my old password saved and tried to login but now I’m not allowed to log back in because of too many attempts.

    “ERROR: Login failed because your IP address has been blocked. Please contact the administrator.”

    Am I permanently locked out as an admin or will it reset in a few minutes to let me log back in?

    There should be a feature to bypass this by the admin if I’m logging in from my home ip address.

    Please advise.

    In regards to your question

    That depends on what feature you have enabled for example under WP Security >> User Login >> Login Lockdown Options you can enable a lock down period…

    Hey,

    Thanks for the response. I just logged in from my phone which has a different ip
    and reset the lock on my other ip address.

    I also changed some of the lockdown options as suggested. So thanks!

    It’s a great plugin and I hope it does make it harder for hackers to get in. In the last two days I’ve seen someone create an admin user without my consent. So I’m hoping your plugin plugs up whatever hole was allowing this person to do that. It’s very unsettling.

    Hi,

    I recently updated to the latest version of your plugin.
    I tried logging in and accidentally used the wrong user name and password. It locked me out even though I had updated some settings to keep my ip address from being blocked.

    So I tried loggin again using a different ip address with the proper user name and password. After submitting the information, I’m just redirected to the login again with no message of any sort.

    So now I can’t log into my site at all. Is there a way to bypass this using access to my cpanel or ftp which I do have access to?

    What would have changed since your update that would prevent me from logging in with the proper information?

    I cleared my cache and used a different browser and still can’t log in with the proper info or different ip.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Eddy, please follow the instructions in reply number 2 above. If you are locked out that means the plugin is doing it’s job.

    The changelog for the new version is more about improvements and there is no new features to be exact. To my knowledge nothing in the new version would have locked you out unless of course as you stated you typed in the wrong username and password.

    Thanks! I was able to login. I realized why this happened. I had the plugin set up to automatically lock anyone that used a username that doesn’t exist. But i figured since i whitelisted my ip address it would override that. But apparently not.

    Either way, I’m in. thanks again for the speedy response. Hostgator still hadn’t respond yet!
