• Hello,
I am trying to move from wordpress.com to www.ads-software.com.
    – I have a host and CPanel, I created the MySQL database, uploaded the wordpress 4.0 zip ad unpacked it in the correct files location.
    – I did not yet change the wp-config-sample.php file to wp-config.php.
    – my old wordpress.com is still running under “myname.wordpress.com”.
    – I own the domain “myname.com” but stopped the pointing in wordpress.com

I am stuck at the stage where I need to install wordpress in CPanel:
when I type in my address, I see a blank page with
“Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain. “
when I type “myname.wordpress.com” I get the old site.
=> can someone run me through the steps after uploading wordpress.4.0 to the files in CPanel?

    Thank you.
    D

  • that might be tough because each host can configure cPanel the way they want. You might ask your host’s tech support for some guidance.

What you need to do is point the domain name at the folder where you put wordpress.

Who is the host? Knowing this, someone else who is on that host might be able to give you step by step instructions.

    Hey damiendb294,
If you are using CPanel, mostly likely it already has some automated script installer like Softaculous installed on it. All you have to do is select WordPress as your choice of CMS, choose the directory path and database credentials, if you don’t wish go for the default ones, and it will automatically create the database and its users and install WordPress on your server.

You will either need to point your domain name to the name servers provided by your host or create an A record and point it to the dedicated IP address of your new server. Either way works.

If you haven’t already, export your existing wordpress.com site using the Export tool and import it on your new self hosted WordPress site.

    I hope it helps.

    ~ Cheers!
