The Plugin is great, I use it on every site I publish.
And I am one of the testers of version 1 beta.

    1. The new setting system
It is great, looks very neat and professional, usability is great, what I do miss is a help section where I can find several examples of short-codes and what they do similar to presets. Or perhaps more presets? You will know better what most people need.

    2. Include WordPress Menu
In 100% of cases I use this plugin to show a number of pages and or posts as a hole page menu. It would be great if I did not have to edit the page where the tiles show up just to put in or put out a new page ID in the shortcode
    [wp-tiles colors='#e1e6f4,#fcb01d, #afd9ae' template="Home" posts_query="numberposts=6&post_type=page&include=377, 1260, 66, 155, 2, 1457"]
If I could just give the ID of a WordPress Menue I can edit under the section of WP Admin > Appearance > Menue , than also my other big problem is solved: the sort order.
I found code on github, and someone told me it works, but after loosing about a workday of trieing I gave up. I will try again, if there is a chance to do it.

    3. Sort Order
Since I use this plugin as menu eg:

    version 0.5.7 eg = https://newsolutions.de/it/artikel/
    [wp-tiles colors='#e1e6f4,#fcb01d, #afd9ae' template='Bestof' posts_query='post_type=page&post_parent=3106']

    version 0.5.5 eg = https://burgyzapp.de/de/kunst/bildband/
    [wp-tiles colors='#e1e6f4,#fcb01d, #afd9ae' template="Bildband" posts_query='numberposts=14&post_type=page&include=67,72,68,69,70,73,77,95,289,1272,131,148,125,126']

I need to have a way to sort the tiles. I always chose the sort order setting menu, since I always hoped to use wordpress menues. But the sort order appears to be random. Therefore I do layout the tiles after seeing the random sort order. If I change one single entry I need to relayout every single tile. Therefore I never change them.

    4. New Layout / Old Layout
The old shadow is very beautiful and I have enough place to spend, therefore affording it. The switch to the old layout is therefore mandatory for me. If you could also include a “add shadow” switch, this would be great.

    4. testing 1beta
I did test your plugin https://kunstbewegung.info/magazin/buecher/
    [wp-tiles post_type="page" orderby="menu_order" order="DESC" posts_per_page="6" post_parent="8" grid_selector_color="#FFFFFF" ]
    ok, works fine

I did test your plugin by including it as shortcode within a text widget. This function can be activated with the plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/support/view/plugin-reviews/shortcodes-in-sidebar-widgets
I used it to include your shortcode on the home page widget area.
    ok, works fine

include=”8,14″ together with numberposts=”2″ did not work in the shortcode, or the result was unexpected anyway showing a lot more content. Look at 1. Perhaps there should be a help with all different commands usable with WP Tiles.

    4. mixing posts and pages again a menu thing
If we could get the menu inclusion working it would be also possible to use pages and posts together makeing a lot of 301 redirects I use to circumvent the limitation unnecessary.

Thank you for this great plugin! and the new upcoming version.
    Yours
    Burgy Zapp

PS I hope I got some useful input which can be included without to much work, Perhaps my needs all break down to the menu inclusion. A lot of functionality and therefore programming problems would be outside WP Tiles and in the otherwise maintained WordPress Menu Functionality.

    Hi Burgy Zapp,

Thanks a million for your extensive commentary. I have never thought of using WordPress menus to query and order the posts to display. That is a very good idea – I will put it on the roadmap and try to work on that as the next feature!

I will have a look at your sorting problems as well – WP Tiles should default to the date the post was published. You can force it to sort the same as the provided post ids by setting orderby=post__in.

With the new version you can also include multiple post types by setting post_type=any, so you can combine posts and pages.

The amount of posts displayed should be set with posts_per_page in the shortcode, no longer with numberposts. If it’s not set, it will default to the amount of posts that fit in your grid template.

Let me know if you have any more questions and thanks again for your comments!

    Mike
