Changed the URL in settings and broke it. How to I fix it?

I just tried the first option (See below). Made it wait a long time and then didn’t load the page at all.

I changed the text box from “https://www.shillianth.com/wordpress” to
“https://www.shillianth.com”

I thought that all I’d have to do is locate that file and change it back? Not add in a new bit all together.

Edit wp-config.php

It is possible to set the site URL manually in the wp-config.php file.

Add these two lines to your wp-config.php, where “example.com” is the correct location of your site.

define(‘WP_HOME’,’https://example.com’);
define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’https://example.com’);

This is not necessarily the best fix, it’s just hardcoding the values into the site itself. You won’t be able to edit them on the General settings page anymore when using this method.

It’s not a file; it’s a setting in the database. Follow the instructions. You’re on GoDaddy, and they can be very slow. And you just registered the domain, so the DNS delay may complicate things.

Now I need to figure out why the links aren’t working and how to adjust that

Reset your permalinks.

Tried googling how.

If I change anything on the Permalink page, nothing shows on the front page.

Which could be because the website is showing “https://shillianth.com/” “coming soon”… Is that just another hurry up and wait thing since the website is hours old and still filtering through things?

Ask GoDaddy to remove the placeholder page for your account; I think that’s the issue.

And it’s a windows server; tell them to enable the URL Rewrite Module for IIS8.
