display thumbnails

I’m using this code to display album thumbnails when the page first loads:
[wppa type=”album” album=”1″][/wppa] (for example, https://www.harvardsquarelibrary.org/cambridge-harvard/the-harvard-book-buildings-campus/. When you click on a thumbnail it takes you into slideshow mode with 5 thumbnails displayed at a time at the bottom. However the browser back button doesn’t take you back to the full page of thumbnails and neither does reload/refresh. Is is possible to easily navigate back to see all the thumbnails?
