Child theme breaks layout

Please send a screenshot of the Parent/Child tab settings. Make sure you open up the “Parse additional stylesheets” panel (click the arrow) before taking the screenshot.

This may be related to an issue in v1.5.2.1 that has been addressed in v1.5.2.2 but I will not know for sure until I can see your settings.

First, install the development version. This contains code to eliminate the redundant styles generated by the 1.5.2.1 bug.

Use the “manual installation” steps (#2):

Second, make sure you check the box next to “Copy Menus, Widgets and other options from parent theme” and click “generate child theme files” again.

I need to see the child theme source. Something is not loading correctly.

Activate child theme, load in browser, right-click and “View Page Source”

I installed the plugin (dev version) and activated the child theme on my dev site, so you can check the source your self:

The problem is with the theme. It is loading the template styles via the stylesheet path instead of the template path. This means it is trying to load a stylesheet that does not exist.

If you set me up an admin account, I can make an adjustment that will fix this.

The child theme is being generated correctly, but there are numerous plugins that are using theme-specific options that are not saved via the theme mod api.

You will have to customize these plugins in the child theme separately to recreate the same layout.

This is weird. I got it to work on my dev site but not on the live site. With the same plugin version (the dev version), the exact same settings and the exact same extra templates imported.

Will keep trying – but this makes my brain boil…
