NextGEN Gallery images open in a new window

  • I have just installed NextGEN Gallery and am having the issue that when a thumbnail is clicked on, the image simply opens up in a new tab.

    I know this is not the intended behaviour. I guess it is not using Lightbox correctly? I had the gallery installed in my Bitnami local testing site and it worked fine, so I do not think that it is an issue with my theme. This is a multisite installation, however, so there are some additional plugins over which I have no control, including Lightbox Plus Colorbox.

  • @murkywaters, have you tried with a different lightbox effect, as fancy-box or shutter?

    Thank you for your reply. Yes, I tried different effects, but none appear to work.

    I tested disabling Lightbox altogether on my local installation, and this is the behaviour that I am getting on my live site. So I think it is not using Lightbox at all.

    @murkywaters – The images appear to be linking to something that is not NextGEN Gallery related so it is most likely going to be a “conflict” of sorts, possibly the other Lightbox over-writing NextGEN Gallery’s approach.

    You may need to work with the IT department to sort out if this is a plugin conflict if you do not have the access to Network Activated plugins. My first thought would be the Colorbox plugin based on the page source details.
