First of all – my version is the last available. I keep things updated ??

So I bit the bullet and decided to change my categories/pages and remove the events page I had before so that I would not have to change anything in Event Espresso.

I have added a couple of events, one to replace the article I had about an event that has already happened (to keep the URL and to keep a record of things).

But the past event do not show. And I am not able to find a setting to tell EE4 to display all events, even if they are expired. I also want to include past events as a way of letting people know what events we are doing.

I do not want to set up a separate page for events archive. I just want them to appear in chronological order – just as a blog.

Does anyone know where I can send pre-sales questions?

    Hi there,

You can add this shortcode to a page to display all the events, even if they are expired:

    [ESPRESSO_EVENTS show_expired=true]

I’m wary of publishing an email address in a public forum, so I’ll give you a link to where you can contact them to send pre-sales questions:

    Hi Josh,

Maybe you did not catch this ??

I do not want to set up a separate page for events archive. I just want them to appear in chronological order – just as a blog.

I know that I can set up a separate page. I just don’t want to do that. What I want is a way to show expired events together with upcoming and NOT have to do a page for it. It should just be a setting somewhere:

    Show expired events: Yes/No

I can not imagine this has not come up as a question before. Or maybe version 4 is so new there are almost no users yet?

    Hi there,

I did catch what you wrote, but I misunderstood what you mean by events archive. I thought you meant you didn’t want a separate page for expired events only.

Anyway, it’s possible to do what you’re after without creating a new page and using a shortcode, but the simplest way to set this up is with a page using the shortcode. The other way to do this is add an archive-espresso_events.php template to your theme and change the default so it it displays all events, even expired ones.

Version 4 is relatively new on www.ads-software.com, but a paid version has been available since early 2014. I’m not aware of anyone other than yourself objecting to setting up a separate page to display events.

Well, to me it is redundant as all it takes is a setting in the configuration.

Also, EE4 already claims the /events URL, so why add another one? Also, I really want all searches to end up on this page so I do not want two URL’s.

All this aside: EE4 seems to be an extremely well thought out plugin. It looks like a great start to something that will be important to me and the work I am planning to do.

there are settings for the /events/ archive page in the WP admin under:
Event Espresso > General Settings > Templates
Scroll down to “Event List Pages
The setting you want is “Display Expired Events

Per the instruction from Brent and Josh, marking as resolved.

Can you help us keep Event Espresso Decaf free and on www.ads-software.com, by giving us a 5 star review?
