updated plugin to work with WP 4.0 and now my admin account is locked out

Just updated the plugin and my admin account is locked out. Only way to get back in is for me to FTP and delete the plugin. Are there settings or steps i need to preform before updating? I can’t roll back to the working version now because it also blocks the admin account. I checked in mySQL and the admin user is still set as an admin.
