• We just got a new computer and while trying to access my wordpress admin site to work on our webpage I believe I may have installed a newer version on WP than I previously had. Suddenly my entire website seems to have vanished. This site has been successfully running for 3 years or so and now typing in our address brings me to a blank wordpress blog page with the words “Hello world” at the top.

Now when logged into my wordpress admin site all of our files and pages are no where to be found!

    Any help out there?!?

  • It sounds like you installed a new version rather than updated the existing version. I’m not sure how you could do that from the WordPress admin interface.

Contact your hosting company and see if there is a backup they can restore.

It’s always a good idea to make your own backups from time to time just for extra safety.

Thanks for your reply, I believe that your right. I installed WP from our hosting company because I was on this new computer and thought that was what I needed to do to work on the web site again. Later remembering how to login through the wp-admin page and realizing that I had lost everything.

`We work with Blue host, does anyone know if they keep backups in their systems? I will have to contact them in a few days because of a wedding and moving.

I wouldn’t delay too long. Bluehost’s web site describes their backup policy in a very vague manner. (Basically up to their discretion) But they do state that they don’t keep backups longer than 30 days.
