• hi, i’m using wordpress 2.1.2
i’m wondering if there’s a way for users to register without
email notification, to put their own password, not to recieve it by email

  • Interesting question. I’m going to look for an answer, but I’m really curious why you ask? Security?

but that didn’t really helped ??

So the script described at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/75620?replies=10 didn’t help you?

My new users click to register, but never recieve a confirmation email with generated password. It worked when I initially installed the program. But not now. Is there a workaround?

i am expierencing the same problem pri9908, it registers them into the DB but just never sends the confirmation email with the password. It also doesn’t send me notifications when new comments are posted to approve, not sure if these are linked though

I’m also having the same problem as mgieser and pri9908. Any word on this yet?

Open pluggable.php under wp-includes folder. delete the following code (line228), or make a comment mark before it.
    //$phpmailer->Sender = apply_filters( ‘wp_mail_from’, $from_email );

Hi mgieser, looking at your suggestion to remove line 228. will this help my user to get email confirmation?

as of now my user are not getting email when they register.

ivents, I tried his suggestion and it didn’t work ??

I’ve got the same problem. Users who register do show up in the database but get no email.

Perhaps something needs to be enabled at the hosting service???

I dont think there is something more to enabled from hosting side. as I got email when I first installed wordpress.

I think there is something to be set within wordpress.

Are there any wordpress team member around?

Same issue here. If a user posts a comment, WP will email me notification so I know the email works, but new users aren’t getting their emailed p/w.

I’m having the same problem. Registered users show up in admin but they never receive an email.
Ideally, I would like to be able to allow them to get their password on the site, without having to give their email addresses. I’m thinking about their security more than the blog’s. I would prefer to have an open forum without a lot of hassles for the user. (Perhaps WordPress isn’t the correct software for what I’m looking for — any suggestions?)
Meanwhile – I need to know how to get the blog working in the first place.
Thank you for any help. I hosted the site on BlueHost, they can’t give me any WordPress support. And WordPress won’t support it unless they host the blog site. It seems like a simple fix. Please help.
