The naming of themes

    I have in the past created child themes for clients, applying their branding of colours, fonts etc. Usually I name the child theme using the client company name. I was wondering if the names of WordPress themes and child themes have to be registered online somewhere? I can’t find the answer to this in the codex and would appreciate being pointed in the right direction to find the answer.

    It appears that www.ads-software.com have a registration process and themes are reviewed before being uploaded to www.ads-software.com but what about other premium themes that are sold on websites and are not on www.ads-software.com? What’s to stop a theme developer giving their theme the same name as another company?
