wp-admin page will not load after updating

  • Hello,

    I have been absent from my wordpress blog for a few months; I logged in this morning to do updates (to wp 4.0 and some plugin updates). The updates never completed on the screen–it just froze. I eventually closed the window and now I cannot log in at all. I just get a blank white screen.

    I’ve been reading the posts on the topic of wp-admin pages not loading, but I cannot figure out what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    I am currently hosting with BlueHost. I was trying to load wp 4.0, but I do not know if it actually updated

    Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
