Connecting pages

  • I have a site in english and I try to translate the pages. But when clicking at the + sign I get a new page and I enter the translated stuff here and save. Then I have 2 pages which are NOT interconnected. In the pages list on the first page there is a checkmark and a + sign and on the translated there are a + sign and a checkmark.

    Clicking the flags in the menu do not display the translated page only a blank page.

    How can I ‘connect’ those two pages?

    To connect your page => Edit your EN page => in the meta box Language (on the top right) choose in the autocomplete input filed the existing page as translation.
    When a post/page is translated, the + is replaced by a pen which links to the translation in both the pages/posts list table and pages/post edit meta box.

    Hi, I can choose the corresponding page and I get the ‘pen’ icon instead of the plus sign. However, when I click update, it doesn’t stay connected, so I can’t then select the page as the static homepage.

    Any ideas?

    The pen icon disappears in your list page? Could you give a link of your website. Which theme?
    Could test just with Twenty twelve and Polylang to see if you have the same issue.

    Seems to work just fine when I switch to the Twenty Fourteen theme. Must be something to do with my theme. I’ll look into it.

    I found out that when adding a translated page I cant connect to the original.

    I have to finish the translated one and go back to the original and connect from there. The other way around doesnt seem to work.

    Weird. Is it the same with a default WordPress theme like Twenty twelve, Twenty Fourteen and just Polylang?
