    Hi,
I’m having an absolutle nightmare of a time and spent the past 3 days trying to fix this with some help from my hosting providers (Streamline). I really hope somebody can help. my website is https://www.onestopsailing.co.uk

Basically my site went to 504 error and now says: Error establishing a database connection for all pages, even if I go to /wp-admin

For the past 3 days my hosts have managed to sort it and get it back up running, however everytime I go onto the admin side of the site and make a change the site goes down.

The hosts think it’s a plug in failure and gave me this reply:

Although you have only few plugins on it, the error occur as one or more plugins installed was not properly scripted. As we have checked the enabled plugin has too many open connections without a proper closure that has put the process to a loop. With this, the table queries will open a lot of command without a proper end and after 20 tries of doing the same process, the site will crashed. Please double check the feedback of the plugin and make sure to have it from a liable source so this wont happen again.

Any idea of how I might be able to fix it or is it a server/host issue?

    Hi Jack,
    Cheers for replying.

I’m using the latest version of WordPress and have the following plugins (named as they appear on ftp):

    Akismet
    Codestyling-localization
    customer-Taxonomy-order
    date-exclusion-seo-plugin
    excerpts-everywhere
    google-analytics-for-wordpress
    ml-slider
    ml-slider-pro
    photo-gallery
rvg-optimize-database (I was instucted to install this by the host technical support but the site kept crashing before I could run the software)
    screets
    simple-backup
    ubermenu
    wordpress backup-to-dropbox
    wordpress-importer
    wordpress-seo
    wordpress-sliding-drawer-content-area

I should stress that pretty all of these are inactive.

    Thanks for the assistance.

Did they say which plugin is causing the problem? I would look at your 2 backup plugins and disable and remove those.

    no worries.

Codestyling-localization is nearly two years out of date.
date-exclusion-seo-plugin hasn’t been updated since 2009! take it out and shoot it.
excerpts-everywhere hasn’t been updated in over a year
    screets i’ve never heard of
    simple-backup hasn’t been updated for 8 months
ubermenu doesn’t play well with some other plugins
wordpress-sliding-drawer-content-area hasn’t been updated in nearly 3 years.

they could be a big part of your problem…

    Bonza!!!
Cheers Jack. Do you know any alternative to codestyling-localisation?

I’ll get the plugins off and hope it works!

Suzette – sadly they don’t appear to know.

no worries. try https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-translate/ for your translation needs, it’s very current so it should play nicely with wordpress 4.0 (i assume that’s what that codestyling-localisation plugin does!)

    Hi,
Well we got the site back up. However when I went to log in it crashed again. Could there be a fault in wordpress or the theme (midway)?

    Cheers,
