    did you enable ‘remove metadata’?

    Hi nosilver4u,

Thanks for getting back to me. The tickbox, for ‘This will remove ALL metadata: EXIF and comments’ was unticked. Should I tick this? Would it affect the SEO?

    Regards

Yes, and yes. All the page testing services expect you to remove metadata, and because it will improve your loading speed, it will also improve your SEO rankings.

    Hi nosilver4u,

Ok, great. Thanks for confirming this. I was just under the impression that by removing Metadata, it would have a negative impact on my SEO.

    Hi nosilver4u,

Sorry to bother once more. I have just ticked the relevant box and I am still getting the same response from Google Insights. I just get the message saying ‘Losslessly compressing’ followed by the URL.

Please provide your website, so I can see what specific images are giving you trouble.

    Thanks nosilver4u,

The client I am working on is: https://www.claims-advice-network.co.uk.

Ok, did you rerun the bulk optimize after checking the ‘remove metadata’ box?

Second, you’ll want to add the revslider folder to ‘folders to optimize’, then run the Scan & Optimize to catch those, and your theme images.

    Hi nosilver4u,

I have added the relevant folders and managed to bring it down to just 4 remaining images that Google PageSpeed Insights are highlighting as images I should further optimise. How can this be done as the plugin is now saying that there are no more images to optimise?

    Thanks.

It could be a caching issue at this point, as I don’t see the same images flagged on Yahoo’s Yslow.
Tried to run it on gtmetrix (which does pagespeed, and another test or two), but now your site is returning a 500 error…

    Hi,

Apologies for the late response. For some reason, the website went offline. Not sure if it was due to the optimization of Ewww Plugin or BWP Minify. Nevertheless, the site is back online now and I am still getting the issue where the Ewww plugin is saying there are no more images to optimize yet Google’s PageSpeed insight is still saying I need to further optimize 4 images.

As well as placing the folder paths, I have also placed the link to the image itself in the relevant text box but nothing seems to be solving this issue.

    Thanks.

Ok, I hate to have you go to such extreme lengths, but I’m at a loss. It seems like another plugin is interfering with something here. If you have the revslider/ folder in Folders to Optimize, have checked the Force re-optimize, and run a Scan & Optimize again, then try this. Disable all plugins except EWWW (this is just temporarily), then do the above, and also do a force Bulk Optimize too. See if that takes care of things (and then you can start re-enabling plugins).

    Hi nosilver4u,

Many thanks for your assistance with this and apologies for taking up so much of your time. I am just doing a backup of the website and as soon as I have done this, I will follow your above instructions.

As soon as I have resolved this, I’ll be sure to make a donation to assist with this plugin development. On that matter, do you develop any plugins that offer to ability to minify HTML, JavaScript and CSS?

For minification, I always recommend using Cloudflare (it does some other awesome stuff to, and is free). I’ve tried a few plugins, but I seem to run into problems with them generally. Cloudflare gets used by way more websites, so they have better data to help avoid conflicts, especially with javascript.

    Hi nosilver4u,

Excellent. I did try BWP Minify but it did break some of my images as well as remove a slider.

I will keep you posted on the results of the above instructions and hopefully this thread will also help anybody else who may have run into the same difficulties as myself.

    Regards

    Craig
