    Hello,

thank you very much for your wonderful plugin!
I’ve a problem I can’t explain and need some help. The Plugin is supposed to use the first picture of a post as thumbnail. Most times this goes very well, but with some posts it doesnt’s work – even if there definitly IS a first picture ??
Sometimes the Plugin simply chooses the default-picture, but in other times, it displays an error within the widget…

Warning: exif_imagetype() [function.exif-imagetype]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /var/www/web1537/html/bine/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-popular-posts/wordpress-popular-posts.php on line 2454

Warning: exif_imagetype(https://sabinewinkler.de/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Foto-300×224.jpg) [function.exif-imagetype]: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in /var/www/web1537/html/bine/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-popular-posts/wordpress-popular-posts.php on line 2454

    The Page is

I’ve done the last update of the plugin as well as the last update of WordPress.
It happens as well with some old posts and with some new… do you have a clue what happens?

    Best regards!
    Christiane

I’m pretty sure that’s related to the PHP warnings you’re getting from the plugin. Fix these and WPP will be able to create the thumbnails properly ??

To do so you should either contact your hosting and ask them to enable allow_url_fopen for you, or you can try to enable it by yourself.

Seeing that WPP is displaying thumbnails correctly at OP’s website (and that the PHP warning is gone as well), I’m assuming that the suggestion above worked and so I’m marking this topic as resolved now.

Christiane, if the issue still persists please feel free to reopen this topic by marking it as unresolved and post a comment so I can tell.
