Updated to WP 4.0 – no problem

Updated plugin to 5.1.1. – many error messages

    This in the backend:

“Warning: Illegal string offset ‘lists’ in /home4/wildbits/public_html/carawilde.com/cw/wp-content/plugins/yikes-inc-easy-mailchimp-extender/classes/class.yksemeBase.php on line 143

Warning: Illegal string offset ‘optIn-checkbox’ in /home4/wildbits/public_html/carawilde.com/cw/wp-content/plugins/yikes-inc-easy-mailchimp-extender/classes/class.yksemeBase.php on line 4308″

    and this on the frontend:

“Warning: Illegal string offset ‘api-key’ in /home4/wildbits/public_html/carawilde.com/cw/wp-content/plugins/yikes-inc-easy-mailchimp-extender/classes/class.yksemeBase.php on line 1572
The list doesn’t exist! Make sure you have imported the list on the ‘Manage List Forms’ page.”

The Manage list forms page shows a whole list of warnings and fatal errors. About the only thing that seems good is it says the API key is valid EDIT// well it says it’s valid on the first page and then later says “Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘Mailchimp_Invalid_ApiKey’ etc etc etc”

I tried reverting to an old version but I’m not sure which version I was on. Probably around 4.2.2. Everything I tried either gave me a variation of the above or just a 500 error as soon as I tried to activate.

EDIT 2// I just tried deactivating all other plugins – made no difference at all.

I’m officially stuck now! Any ideas?

    Cheers

    Hi Ian,

What version of the plugin did you update from? I’m curious, because those errors look more frightening then they actually are.

If you re-save your settings page, those errors will disappear. They simply mean that the plugin is looking for the settings that have not yet been entered into the database, so it can’t find them.

You can either re-save the settings or re-install the plugin altogether (but you will lose your imported forms until you re-install and re-import things).

Let me know if that helps out!

    Thanks,
    Evan

    Hi Evan

    Thanks for responding so quickly.

    >>>What version of the plugin did you update from?

Sadly I don’t know. I suspect around 4.2. I installed in June this year and don’t think I’ve updated since. It’s a pretty simple usage and was working fine, so I left it alone!

    >>>If you re-save your settings page…

Hmmm. Well there isn’t a Save button showing on the Form Options tab, and the save buttons on the other tabs aren’t actually doing anything. If I added my API key again there’d be no way to save it (though it does already say it’s valid with a green tick!)

Guess I need to delete and start over. I’ll let you know how that goes ??

    Cheers

Okay, so I deleted and re-installed the plugin. All working fine now with the exception of one styling anomaly that I won’t bore you with, probably something to do with my theme.

Guessing this issue might have been because I missed one (or several) of your major updates. Maybe that’ll teach me to keep my plugins updated!

    Still, I have a working opt-in form again, so I’m happy ??

    Thanks

Thanks for checking back in to let us know Ian. I’m glad you got everything sorted out. I think the issue arose because you made a jump from 4.x.x to 5.1.1, which had a few features added along the way.

We had added some checks to prevent this from happening between minor versions, but I guess we missed a check or two for major leaps in versions. I’ll have to take a second look at that and find a better solution to prevent things like this from happening again ??

    Thanks for using our plugin!

    Hi LilNoisy7wk,

What sort of issue are you having? Are you getting any sort of errors on activation?

    Thanks,
    Evan
