Problems after updating to plugin version 3.0
-
Just updated to version 3.0.
Tried to run a manual backup of files and database, but only the database backs up. Then I notice that the plugin has calculated the size of the files and database at 264 MB when it should be 18 MB (backup folder is still excluded). I tried deleting the schedule and recreating it, but the issue remains. Am I the only one experiencing this??
-
Tried updating on another site and also had problems. The “calculating the size of your backup…” never completes with a resulting size. Running an instant backup on the 48 mb site which usually results in a 25 mb zipped backup does not complete.
Reverted back to version 2.6.2

The second issue you described, I’ve seen happen on a couple other sites. I’m currently investigating.
Are both sites on the same hosting?Hi Paul,
Thanks for getting back and looking into this. Yes, both sites are with the same host, but on different servers (details below). Let me know if I can forward any further info from this end.

Would you mind either enabling support via the BackUpWordPress admin page, or installing the “system snapshot” plugin and pasting the info here?
Also, do you have one site at the root of your public HTML folder and several other install in subfolders maybe?Hi Paul,
These are two independent sites on two different servers. Here is the snapshot info from site 2:

Version 3.0.1 should fix the issue.
Hi Paul,
Just updated both the sites.
They are backing up perfectly, but (calculating the size of your backup…) still does not resolve with a size. This does not effect the functionality, but I can “Enable Support” if you’d like to take a closer look at some point (just let me know). For now, many thanks for getting the plugin up and running on my setup.Hello,
I have just updated to 3.0.1 and am now receiving the following message:
BackUpWordPress has detected a problem. wp-cron.php is returning a 200 OK response which could mean cron jobs aren’t getting fired properly. BackUpWordPress relies on wp-cron to run scheduled backups. See the FAQ for more details.
The FAQ only seems to address when you’re not receiving a 200 OK response.
I also am having the (calculating the size of your backup…) issue on my Complete Weekly but not my Database Daily tab.
I tried to enable Support but got an error that I don’t have sufficient permission to access that page. Am using our company’s own servers to host, not a large hosting provider with cPanel or anything.
EDIT: Hmm, now Backups isn’t even in my tools list. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the plugin?
(I decided to start a new thread since this one is marked resolved. See https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/attempting-to-enable-support-made-plugin-unusable)

Do you have a .git folder in your directory tree by any chance? Probably what is happening is that the filesize scanner is erroring on an unreadable folder and gets stuck.
We will address the problem soon.HCOE-web
Thanks for reporting this. You’re right, it doesn’t seem correct. I’ll investigate and let you know when I have a fix.
Paul
There is no .git folder in the directory tree. There are however both a .htpasswds and a .smileys directory in the root. When I excluded the .smileys directory from the directory listing the backup database and file size immediately resolved. Seems like this was the problem directory ??Thanks Paul. For what it’s worth, wp-cron seems to be running properly. My scheduled backups are all firing as expected.
You may have already seen it, but I sent an email yesterday evening to the support email address with more details about the issues I’ve been having.
Barnez
thanks for the additional info
