Link Checker seems broken. I have deleted the plugin, reinstalled the plugin but it still doesn’t do the job it used to. I have rebooted the server, router and disabled Cache but nothing seems to correct this problem.

Problem is once I log in I can not do anything because Link Checker is running, can’t even go and disable it or change settings.

Been running now for 4 hours, 1 broken link. Thing is I changed a bunch of my pages, there should be a few dozen broken links and it shouldn’t be taking several hours. In the past this only took an hour to run through my system.

    Really bad now.

Update: Just installed 4.0.1 same problem with Broken Link Checker 1.9.5.

I removed Broken Link Checker 1.9.5. From my backup I copied Broken Link Checker 1.9.2 plugin back to my current plugin directory. Activated this plugin and guess what everything is not working as it should BUT I do get control of my system and I can do work, something I could not do with the 1.9.5 version.

On the Dashboard under Broken Link Checker it shows it working, on the other version 1.9.5 all it ever said was LOADING…..

I guess that is why some hosting sites have banned Broken Link Checker and I guess I have to do the samething now. Shame because I really liked this plugin.

One last note: This was posted with the 4.0.1 upgrade for Broken Link Checker – Compatibility with WordPress 4.0.1: 100% (according to its author), so don’t believe everything you read.

So I guess this is solved as I am using Broken Link Checker 1.9.2.

Are you using any plugins that rely on PHP sessions? WordPress itself doesn’t use sessions and neither do most plugins, but there are some plugins that open a session on every page load. That can cause major performance problems when BLC is activated.

Try the development version of BLC – it includes a workaround for plugin conflicts of this kind.

    Thanks Janis Elsts,

Not sure what plugin you are referring to, what I do know is 1.9.2 is working fine. I guess I’ll try this again with the development version of BLC and see what happens. I have found that plugin issues are an ongoing problem with WP and that is why I disable the update process until I actually have a lot of spare time to work through these issues.

All that aside I do appricate your BLC plugin as I do referrence other sites from mine and sometimes they just go down or change, BLC always keeps me current on such things.

    Thanks you Janis,

Installed version 1.10.3 yesterday Dec 05, 2014. Run through all my checks and everything worked as it should under WP 4.0.1.

    Much appreciated.
