I have commenting turned off on my site, I have disabled pingbacks, I have removed the comment form from the template, deleted everything in theme/comment.php. The only way I got it to stop was to also delete everything in wp-includes/comment.php, but since this last upgrade, I get errors when deleting everything inside wp-includes/comment.php.

Now I’m starting to get spam comments again. How can I stop this once and for all??? How are they able to post comments when i have them disabled???

I would not remove anything from the core. For the most part the core is secure an themes and plugins are culprits of exploits.

Have you tried turning off commenting using a filter of sorts? If you run a scan a malware on your site, is your site clean?

Yes, my site is clean. I don’t understand about turning off comments with filters, why doesn’t the feature in the admin to turn them off not work?

use a security plugin or a captcha plugin, robots can’t answer questions…
