I believe this started occurring after the 4.0.1 update – everything that runs through the WP engine gets a blank line appended to the beginning of it – this doesn’t break the site, but it breaks a file being generated through a plugin.

    1. I switched themes – same problem.
    2. I’ve been deactivating plugins – no joy.
    3. I’ve been searching for and removing whitespace from files mentioned in previous posts – so far, no luck.

I’ve seen hacks (and I’d prefer to fix the offending file(s)) related to RSS feeds with this problem, but this is the entire site, not just the feed output.

What is the file sequence to the creation of the main site page, for example – I need some way to figure out what exactly is causing this and fix it.

    Ideas welcome.

  • Have you tried looking at the site through Mozilla Firefox and Firebug?

If you’d like, send me the link and I’ll take a look for you.

I typically use the Chrome inspector, but I’m not sure what Firebug would show me differently – I assume this problem is taking place before the HTML is dumped to the browser.

I can’t see a message function on here, site is: pcntv.com

I added this guy’s hack for now:

    https://wejn.org/stuff/wejnswpwhitespacefix.php.html

and adjusted it for the content-type I was targeting, works fine – still need to track down the offending file, or just start with a fresh install maybe.
