it seems Jetpack has a lack in it plugin?

The *user* account has just finished sending 1000 emails.
There could be a spammer, the account could be compromised, or just sending more emails than usual.

After some processing of the /etc/virtual/usage/user.bytes file, it was found that the highest sender was [email protected], at 1091 emails.

The most common path that the messages were sent from is /home/user/domains/mywebsite.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/_inc/jetpack-icons, at 994 emails (99%).
The path value may only be of use if it’s pointing to that of a User’s home directory.
If the path is a system path, it likely means the email was sent through smtp rather than using a script.

This warning was generated because the 1000 email threshold was hit.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Could these emails be related to your error log?

If so, could you try to make the following changes to Jetpack, and let me know if it helps?

    Thanks!

It wil be included in the next Jetpack releasel, but it’d be great if you could test things out on your site today, so we can be sure the problem is linked to that change.

Could you try to deactivate and delete the Jetpack plugin, and upload and install this development version instead?

    Hi Jeremy,

I can probably do this in a few hours.
After I done this how should you know this fixed it?

I assume you’ve received the email warnings from your hosting provider, is that correct? If so, I’d suggest asking them if things have changed once you’ve made the change.

Well I called them this morning and they sugested I disable the plugin and contact Jetpack plugin support…..

So I guess we can only find out by enabling the plugin and pray?

Any testing you can do from your side?

    Thnx!

Without knowing more about your issue, yes I’m afraid that’s the only way.

You could also get back to them and ask them for more details about the emails. Are these emails triggered by errors on your site? If so, then the development version of Jetpack will fix the issue.

Any testing you can do from your side?

I didn’t receive such a warning from any of my hosting providers, so I’m afraid I can’t really test things on my end.

Let me know how it goes.
