can't rename new homepage url

Using a new plugin that required me to install a second homepage, and make it static. First time I’ve ever been required to do that, and it wasn’t explained why I couldn’t just use the default homepage!

Then I had to go to dashboard > menu and delete the default homepage, and it didn’t explain how to choose that. Is there a way to differentiate between two like-named pages in the menu? So I think I chose the wrong one, and deleted it.

Then I had to go to dashboard > pages and determine which one to delete. Pretty sure I picked the right one, but then the remaining homepage renamed itself to domain-name.com/14-2. If I try to edit out the 14-2, it comes right back. Is there a way to get rid of that?
