• Hi I’m trying to hide part of a post using the S2M conditional shortcodes.

We publish Case Studies and I would like to reveal the Abstract to the public, but retain the rest of the case study for S2Members only.

I can hide part of a normal WP posts, but it does not seem completely possible with Visual Composer,
I can hide a VC text block by placing the S2If command at the start and /S2If at the end. That works. BUT with images and other VC element types, there’s nowhere to insert the S2If.

Even if I swap to classic editor mode and insert the S2If commands in Visual or Text mode they don’t work.

Do you have any advice on this?

  • My advice is always to avoid using VC.

mmmm. That’s honest but not very helpful!
    My clients LOOOVE VC!

Well, they need to love VC because they will be forever stuck with it.

The problem is that content isn’t inside WP’s own posts and pages; it’s in VC. So your clients must never want to leave VC, because it’ll be a massive job getting stuff out again.

This is why other plugins, like s2Member, won’t work with VC. They are coded to work with WP. If you want anything to work with VC, you’ll always need either a VC add-on or your own customizations.

When front-end editing comes in for WP, as it’s likely to do within the next year or so, I suspect your clients will love that much more than VC. I hope you have a plan to help them migrate!

Hi Robert, we will think about s2member compatibility in future, for now we can only say that we make product absolutely relative to wordpress basics – we have ultimately integrated system that can be enhanced very easily, and if you make everything correctly without making your own bicycle it will be easy to integrate with VC.

So it is related to plugin authors how it dependency injections is made, how filters and actions used, how properly work Do_shortcode and other NATIVE wordpress functions with this plugin.
