I am unable to login into my wordpress admin. When I try to login it says enable cookies. Cookies are already enabled. I have tried clearing cache as well. Tried using both chrome and safari. And this is the case with all of my websites.

Contacted help centre of my hosting website, they say they are able to login and there seems to be no problem from there end.

I was able to login till yesterday, so I think it cannot be due to automatic 4.0.1 update of wordpress. As update was done few days ago.

    Please help.

    * I am a newbie to wordpress. Do not know much coding.

It could be a plugin, do you have file access to your installation?

If you do, try these steps.

    1. Using FTP or whatever file management tools your host has provided you with navigate to the wp-content directory.
    2. Once there locate and rename (do not delete!) the plugins directory to plugins-old. Just that one directory and nothing else.
    3. Clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
    4. Try and re-login to your WordPress dashboard.

Update: I tried to login with another connection on my phone, was easily able to login. But when I switched to my wifi on the same phone, I was unable to login. So it seems more of a local network problem. But even the wifi executive could not figure out what the problem is.

So I am back to square one. I still cannot login.

Jan, can it still be a plugin problem? Because I can login from other networks.

I don’t see how. It seems like you are describing a network problem. When you are on the phone network you are on the public Internet and that’s how your installation will see you. But when you connect your phone via wifi it doesn’t work. I’d think that was a wifi network problem somehow.

    Thanks.

If anyone else has any suggestion on how can I resolve this, please help.

I am having the same problem. It came out of nowhere and is distressing. I really need to maintain access to my sites. I get this message:

ERROR: Cookies are blocked or not supported by your browser. You must enable cookies to use WordPress.

    Cookies are enabled.

    Any help will be appreciated.

It sounds like you actually do not have the same problem (his is a local network problem and yours is a cookie issue) – so please start your own thread – it’s really the best way for you to get help with your issue – you can do so here:

I am also getting the same error message WPyogi.

It is a cookie issue but somehow only on my network. May be Jim has yet not tried logging from other network like his phone network.

That may be the problem. Unfortunately for me the network I use on my laptop is the only option for me at the moment. I am in India for the next few months and don’t have any other way to connect except my computer. It is just strange that up until now, it has been fine, even here in India. Oh well. If there is nothing to be done for now, that’s just how it is. There are other options beside WordPress, I know. I may move my site to one of them. I’ll try starting my own thread first, as suggested, and if there is no resolution, I will accept it.

I think it might be some problem with network in India then. I am using airtel 4G in India. Hope this is a temporary issue.
