In my media library, themes and small icons no image shows up. I have reuploaded the directory and database and deactivated all plugins and nothing has fixed this. I don’t know what is wrong. I have Googled and found no answer that works. This just started to happen after I updated WP.

-Also try switching to the unedited default Twenty Fourteen Theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    If no joy, then:

    – Check that anti-hotlinking of images isn’t enabled in your hosting account. If it is, try disabling it.
    – check your uploads path in Dashboard > Settings > Media, make sure it’s not pointing to a different path . . . normally this would be blank. – confirm that the wp-content/uploads directory and those files exist.
    – Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777.

Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again (very important for security reasons!) and check that everything still works OK

I don’t see a link in the media settings. See image here. https://i.imgur.com/8r0sj6x.jpg

The images in wp-content are there.

I changed the permissions as you describe and I still couldn’t see images in the media and when I click customize for my blog and want to use a picture for the header the images are just blank that I have uploaded. they weren’t before. I don’t know what to make of this. I’ll try the 2014 theme and see what happens.

    – did you try switching to the default theme?
    – also, before viewing a changes, try flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.

Okay, I tried the 2014 theme and I still couldn’t see images in the media library. This is what it looks like if I wanted to upload a header. It shows no image. https://i.imgur.com/MB9g1bE.jpg

Also, when I click themes the image of the theme never shows up.

in your latest reply you indicate you are trying to see your header image, right? You need to to upload it in the images directory of your 2014 theme. Is it in the images directory of your theme. if its not there then you are not going to see it.

Similarly, you may have not uploaded your header images in the right location of your other theme – the one you was using prior to switching to the 2014.

so make sure your imges are in right place.

I DID upload the image. the media library shows nothing. There is something messed up here. I don’t use a cache plugin and there is no chance in the browser. Further I use Sandboxie so the browser saves nothing to the computer. I don’t see a cache folder in the WP directory.

If you look at the images I uploaded you can see what this looks like.

I’m curios to know why there is no image link like I have read about in the media settings. https://i.imgur.com/8r0sj6x.jpg

I solved it! I read an old thread here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/cant-see-images-in-media-library-also-cant-upload-new-one

and i disabled hotlink protection and now my header image shows up and I can see images in the media library and themes that I have installed now.
