Superscript numbers not beginning at 1

    Hi. I had an issue where the superscripts were not linking to the bottom. I deactivated all my plugins which did not fix the issue. I then changed to the 2014 theme. This again didn’t fix the issue, but I did notice the first footnote in the body of the post did not begin a 1 anymore. After finally getting the linking issue fixed (had to deactivate and then reactivate my custom widget where the footnotes are placed at the bottom) the superscript numbers are still not starting at 1. In one post they begin at 13, and in another it starts at 9 even though the footnotes at the bottom of the page do begin at 1.

    I tried deactivating the footnote plugin but this didn’t fix the issue. I again deactivated all my plugins and enabled 2014 theme, but the problem is still there. Do you have any suggestions that I can try to get this fixed? I’m using the latest version of WP and footnotes plugin.

    I found the issue to my problem. In the process of trying to find what was causing my link issue, I turned on the option “the_post:” in the expert area. I’m not sure why, but it was actually listing not only the footnotes for the page being viewed in my widget area at the bottom of the page, but it was listing a host of other footnotes (from other pages) even further down in the post. Turning it off fixed the issue.
