    I get an email like:

    [Wordfence Alert] sitename.com User locked out from signing in
    This email was sent from your website “Site Name” by the Wordfence plugin at Monday 15th of December 2014 at 06:14:30 PM
    The Wordfence administrative URL for this site is: https://sitename.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=Wordfence

    A user with IP address 188.129.245.157 has been locked out from the signing in or using the password recovery form for the following reason: Exceeded the maximum number of login failures which is: 20. The last username they tried to sign in with was: ‘administrator’
    User IP: 188.129.245.157

    But in the WordFence admin for the site, IP 188.129.245.157 is not listed as blocked. What have I done wrong?

  • Hey there…under Options > Firewall Rules how long do you have the “How long is an IP address blocked when it breaks a rule:” option set? 5 minutes is the default. Is it possible the block has expired before you are able to login to the site and check the blocked ip address? If that’s not it, let me know and we continue to troubleshoot.
