Themes do not show up

  • I am brand new to WordPress and had my host install WP4.01 yesterday. I then used SmartFTP to upload a few of my themes to: /wordpr/wp-content/themes/mynewtheme. (I used the term “mynewtheme” as an example of the themes I’m uploading.) I have made sure the themes are unzipped and they are not nested.

    Still, my new themes are not showing up – what could be wrong?

    I forgot to mention, I also tried installing my new themes using the zip upload method (appearance>>themes>>add new>>upload themes>>choose file). This doesn’t work either. I see the zip file being uploaded to 100% then I get a screen that says, “Are you sure you want to do this” and right below that it says “”Please try again.”

    Does anyone read and answer these posts? Or is there maybe a support email I should be using?

    (I know you weren’t bumping ?? but a second legit post does the same thing.)

    In any case, what theme is this that you are trying to upload? Are you able to install themes from here (www.ads-software.com) from the Dashboard

    Thank you for your reply. Yes I just added some more info after I posted but I see what you mean about “bumping”.

    I am trying to install my Ultimatum WordPress Theme which is only 2.18M and I am using the Dashboard. None of my themes will install but this is the smallest one.

    My WordPress is installed in it’s own subdirectory. Also, I told my webhost I did not see a php.ini file so he added one to te root of my domain and I changed the max memory from 2M to 64M – no luck. Then I tried 128M and finally 256M – I still get the following error
    “The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.”

    Strange, but see if you can install using Cpanel or FTP –
