Can’t disable comments, change default category

    I cannot disable comments through options–> discussions. Also, I cannot delete or change my default category. I don’t see an option for it anywhere. I’m not sure if this is the cause but I think it started after I deleted or edited a file. And I don’t remember which file :-(.

    Please help! And thank you in advance!

    To disable comments completely, you can remove the call to the comments.php file from the single.php file. (is this what you want?)

    Also under options >> discussions the 3rd checkbox says: Allow people to post comments on the article, uncheck it. ??

    You cannot delete the default category, to change the default category, look under options >> writing, then look for “Default post category:” it is the 3rd option.

    I was able to fix the categories. Thank you!

    However, even though I uncheck comments in options–>discussion and uncheck it on the post write page, there is still the “write a comment” thing. Feh! I could take out the call to comments.php in the loop.php and single.php unless anyone knows why I’m having this problem. I just want to know if there’s something wrong with my installation or theme or what?
