• I started a topic on a website a couple of days ago and had no troubles until yesterday afternoon….I now can’t get to the site…I keep getting two different messages. One is: Error: Unable to connect to MySQL server. MySQL reported: Can’t connect to MySQL server on ‘grmotorsports.com’ (111).

    And the second is:
    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at grmotorsports.com.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

    What happened???????????

    Thanks for any help!!!!!

  • Your database probably crashed. Get your host to restart your database and see if that clears up the problem.

Does your current hosting site have a status page? Make sure they are not experiencing errors on some (or all) of their servers. If that’s not it, then make sure your MySQL database is still intact. If it’s not any of those things, go into your wp-config.php file and make sure all the MySQL Setting definitions are correct.

Thanks for the replies…But I have no idea what you are saying when you refer to “MySQL” or how to go into my wp-config.php file….Sorry but I’m stupid!

The website I had started the topic on was Grassrootsmotorsports.com…do I need to contact them in order to have my database restarted or the server that I am hooked to?

I started a topic on another website about the same time and am not having any trouble with it…does that mean anything?

    Thanks again!

Are you saying that you don’t have your own wordpress website but commented on someone else’s website and your getting the error when you try to visit their website.

    Is that *your* website?

If not, it’s not your issue. WordPress requires a MySQL database to run. If this is *your* site, then you need to contact your host and find out what’s up with the database. If this *isn’t* your site, then the nest you can do is contact the site owner and tell them their database is down.

OK..thanks guys…It is not my website. I simply commented on their website and am now getting that/those error messages. So I guess I’ll just wait around and see if they get it fixed. I appreciate your help!
