Receiving Internal Server Error on attempting upgrade to 4.0.1

Hi,
We just moved to a cloud server from a hosted solution and I’m in the process of trying to update the site.

I’m trying to run the upgrade to wordpress 4.0.1 and I’m getting this message.

The error log is reporting

I tried again while checking the server from root with top and the server was not being pushed at all so I’m a little confused what the issue is. Is it worth temporarily pushing my php limits up while I do the upgrade?
