On previous WP updates – there has been a handy list of changed files (for example WP 4.0.1). As I have to update one of my client sites manually – this would be very useful – but unfortunately the list doesn’t appear on the latest version’s page. Anyone got any idea where I could locate this information?

  • Sorry, best I can do is this:

Lots of details but no file list.

Usually files are changed when there is a justified reason, to enhance the operation of the code. However in the case of “wp-config-sample.php” there are changes in the comments, there have been no changes in this file otherwise for ages. So I suspect that a list of changed files in this version would not be what you expect. Not sure if there is any policy decisions behind this.

Thanks Ross. Yes – I’d seen that already. Anyhow – I did a quick diff comparison between the two versions and came up with a (fairly long) list of revised files. I’ve not thoroughly checked it – but it might be of use to someone I guess. In case anyone checks it out – all files with [-] prefix are redundant files not in 4.1, and [+] are files that only exist in the new version.
