Shortcode and line breaks not rendered in notification emails

Hi,
When notification emails are sent the line breaks and shortcode for avatars don’t render as they should. Date, title and URL fields expand as expected, though.
Here’s the relevant source of the received email:

The shortcode isn’t intepreted before sending either. This particular shortcode comes from the WP user avatar plugin.
